The Resource Stewardship Directorate, Northeast Museum Services
Center is seeking to fill a Museum Curator to serve as the liaison
to regional historic preservation and maintenance groups for all
construction and renovation projects that have an impact on museum
collections, advising on museum environment, environmental systems
(HVAC), and as liaison to regional security and fire specialists on
museum-appropriate detection/suppression systems.

his position requires a particular subject-matter specialization in
the preservation of museum collections.  Oversees and reviews all
collections preservation planning projects, including Collection
Storage Plans, Strategic planning goals for curatorial programs, and
any General Management Planning or pre-planning that affects
collections.  The collections of the Northeast Region comprise the
largest group of museum collections in the National Park Service,
numbering some 31 million objects (primarily archival and museum
collections).  Coordinates and supervises the development of
technical museum baseline preservation planning documents including
collections Preservation Plans and Conservation Strategies,
Housekeeping Plans, Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Plans,
Collection Storage Plans, and Environmental Surveys, Risk
Assessments, Emergency Operations Plans (EOP), and Disaster Response
and Recovery Plans to be accomplished by the Northeast Museum
Services Center.  This includes development of projects directives,
task directives, scopes of work, budgets, document formats, team
coordination, and completion reports. Serves as a team member for
Collection Management Plans. Serves as Contracting Officer Technical
Representative for these projects if accomplished via contract.
