Conservator for Wallpapers German Wallpaper Museum Museumslandschaft Hessen Kassel, Germany The Museumslandschaft Hessen Kassel (MHK) is offering a full-time position for a Conservator for Wallpapers of a collection of historic wallpapers from European and Asian culture. Closing Date: October 31, 2013 Annual Salary: Full-time position, Pay Grade E 10, TV-H Description: The successful candidate will be in charge of the conservation and preservation of the collection of the German Wallpaper Museum (DTM), including in situ wallpapers of residences belonging to the Museumslandschaft Hessen Kassel as well as caring for the storage facilities. The magnificent collection of the German Wallpaper Museum, founded in 1923, houses 23000 objects, gold-leather and painted canvas wall-hangings as well as prominent wallpapers made of paper. A new museum for the collection is currently planned and precious Scenic Wallpapers will be the primary focus for the new presentation. Therefore the main emphasis will be on the preparation of the future permanent exhibition. Qualifications: A Masters degree in Conservation of Works of Art on Paper with specialisation in wallpaper conservation. Long-time experience in conservation of Scenic Wallpapers and specialist knowledge in professional installation techniques for mounting wallpapers in the context of museums. We expect the successful candidate to possess a high level of responsibility, social competence, self-dependent functioning and organisational skills. The individual must have a valid driver's license. Experience in different software programs and the driving of a company-car are also required.
