Paintings Conservator

The Denver Art Museum is seeking a full-time paintings conservator
to oversee the conservation needs of our paintings collection.  The
Denver Art Museum has a comprehensive collection of paintings
ranging from ancient to modern and contemporary, spanning seven
curatorial departments. This position will also provide painting
conservation to the adjacent Clyfford Still Museum.  The Clyfford
Still Museum is home to Still's expansive body of work. Time will be
evenly distributed between the two museums per exhibition and
planning schedules. The conservator will be an employee of the
Denver art Museum and report to the Denver Art Museum Director of
Conservation.

The candidate should have a degree from a recognized conservation
training program, or equivalent level of training. A minimum of ten
years of experience is required. The conservator will perform
conservation assessments and treatment of museum paintings as
assigned; assure accuracy and completeness of records and reports;
promote the conservation department through research, lectures,
outreach, and professional publications.  Some travel will be
involved.

Sound work habits and organization, personal initiative, excellent
written and verbal communication, along with ability to work in a
dynamic museum environment are essential. Moderate to heavy lifting
will be involved on occasion.  Candidate will also uphold collegial
and collaborative relationships with conservation staff and other
department staff in both museums.
