Consultant/Advisor opportunity Kent History and Library Centre, Maidstone We are looking to appoint a consultant to help us to develop our stage 2 application to the Heritage Lottery Funded Skills for the Future programme Context: The Conserving our Past, Preserving our Future Project has been granted development funding by the Heritage Lottery Fund's Skills for the Future Programme to fully develop its second round application. Based at the Kent History and Library Centre, Maidstone the project focuses on training 3 young people in archival conservation skills to conservation technician level, including the completion of an NVQ in Cultural Heritage. It will engage with Kent's communities through providing document preservation training for volunteers working with their community's history and the delivery of 3 project workshops. We wish to appoint a consultant/advisor to work closely with the project team during the project development phase to produce a detailed Training Plan. Applicants must be familiar with writing a Skills for the Future training plan. Working with the project manager the consultant/advisor will assist with the development and delivery of the second stage bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund. Required tasks are: Research and write the activity and training plan to enable successful project delivery including the completion of NVQ in Cultural Heritage and external placements Research and report on the current demographics of people working in heritage and archival conservation technician roles in the South East providing evidence of the current need for these roles; mapping local studies and Record Offices to determine future demand for these skills Research and report on development opportunities for conservation technicians assessing work opportunities or potential employment routes available for young people Collate supporting documents required for a second round application to the HLF Provide a project evaluation framework It is anticipated that work will commence in October 2013 with an Interim Report and research findings required by 1 November 2013 and Final Report by 17 November 2013. The consultant will report to the Project Team of Sarah Stanley, Historic Collections Manager and Anne Atkinson, History Services Development Manager Remuneration: The consultant/advisor will be paid a fee based on an appropriate daily rate within a capped budget of UKP7000 + VAT, including costs of research, travel and incidental expenses.
