Talk on commissioning technical imaging and analysis

From: Chantal-Helen Thuer <c_thur<-at->
Date: Wednesday, September 11, 2013
Dr Jilleen Nadolny will speak on

"The conservator as educated consumer: A 'how to' for commissioning
technical imaging and analysis"

Grand Robing Room
Freemason's Hall
60 Great Queen Street
London WC2B 5AZ
Monday, 30 September 2013
Doors open at 6pm

Close to both Covent Garden and Holborn Tube Stations.

This talk will review the basic information that conservators
commissioning technical studies need in order to make good choices
given the wide variety of new services and approaches that have
become available in recent years. Three areas will be specifically
covered: commissioning technical imaging (for example the
differences in IR capture systems and digital vs. film X-ray), the
investigation of fakes and forgeries (such as the minimum standards
needed for investigations to support claims) and the identification
of historical painting materials and practices for conservation and
technical art history.
