Subject: Yale Preservation Lectures Series available online
All four of the Yale University Preservation Lectures are now available at <URL:http://www.library.yale.edu/about/departments/preservation/pres_lect_series.html> The last lecture by Mary M.Brooks, "Cassandra Calling: Conservation pasts, present and futures" is audio only. The other three lectures are videos. If you haven't heard the lectures I encourage you to take a listen to James Reilly on "Sustainable Stewardship: The new thinking, preservation environments, and building operations", Helen Shenton on "Paradoxes of Preservation: A personal and strategic perspective on crossing the pond", or Abby Smith Rumsey on "But Storage is Cheap... digital preservation in the age of abundance". These along with Mary Brooks' talk can be found at the URL above. The fifth Preservation Lecture will be at 3:30p.m, November 21, 2013 at Yale's Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library. The speaker will be Aniko Bezur, Director of Scientific Research in Yale's Institute for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage. She'll be talking about 'science facilities in the service of collections.' The formal announcement of the next lecture will come out closer to the date.
