National Museums Scotland is one of the UK's leading museum
services. It has a national and international reach and operates
four museum sites. A major redevelopment and modernisation programme
across our organisation is nearing completion, including a UKP50
million redevelopment of the National Museum of Scotland. This
investment has created new displays, enhanced learning and public
facilities and provides high quality visitor experiences. A further
UKP12 million of investment in new displays is being planned for
this site.

Maternity Cover post for up to 12 months

You will provide essential support to the wide range of activities
within the relevant Conservation section. You will have a recognised
professional conservation qualification, or knowledge from relevant
experience, as well as proven relevant work experience in a museum
or similar environment. An able, practical conservator with good
documentation and reporting skills, you will have a good
understanding of materials and treatments and should be able to show
evidence of expanding you knowledge of these. Aware of professional
conservation issues and best practice, you will be adept at problem
solving, able to manage your time and work alone or with others to
meet deadlines, and will have good communication and ICT skills.
