Conservator Royal Armouries Based in Leeds UKP22,694 per annum The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom's National Museum of Arms and Armour, including firearms and artillery and has a worldwide reputation as a centre of excellence for the Conservation and Care of Arms and Armour. We are seeking to appoint an Object Conservator, to assist with the ongoing provision of a high standard of Conservation and Collections Care within the Museum. The postholder will be part of a small but dynamic department responsible for conserving, maintaining and monitoring collection items ranging from archaeological material through to modern plastics. Applicants will have a relevant degree and proven professional experience in a similar role and across a wide range of materials, along with experience of preventative conservation. Knowledge of conservation treatments and materials relevant to the collection and good reporting skills are essential, as is membership of ICON. This is a full time position, working 37.5 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. Some evening and weekend working may be required. Although based in Leeds work at one of the other two Royal Armouries sites and at domestic and international loan sites may be required on occasion.
