Adhesive for vulcanised rubber

I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for adhesives that can be
used for Vulcanised rubber.  I have a rubber truncheon from 1940's
that has become brittle and snapped in half so I need to adhere it
back together.

I know it is not happy with acetone and alcohols but can't see any
evidence of what people use to adhere this material together.
