The British Museum Conservator, Organics Clothworkers' Foundation Junior Fellow Conservation and Scientific Research Part-time: three days per week, 21.6 hours Fixed-term Contract; five months UKP21,670 per annum, pro rata Ref: 1357042 The Department of Conservation and Scientific Research is looking to recruit a Junior Fellow to provide backfill for a Senior Conservator who is carrying out a two year research project on the conservation of Nilotic human remains. You will develop your skills and receive training in the conservation of organic archaeological, historic and modern materials. You will carry out practical conservation, restoration and preservation of historical and archaeological organic artefacts. Record keeping of work undertaken, collaboration with staff in curatorial departments and assistance with collection surveys are all crucial to this role, as is developing the ability of evaluating the suitability of objects for display and loans. You will have a recognised professional qualification in the conservation of archaeological and/or historical organic objects. You will be a good team player, with the ability to work independently when required.
