Senior Technician, Time-Based Media (3 positions)
Tate

    2 permanent posts, full time - UKP23,360 per annum

    1 fixed term post for 12 months, part-time working 21.6 hours
    per week - UKP14,016 per annum (pro rata to the full time
    equivalent of UKP23,360 per annum)

We are seeking three experienced Conservation Technicians for
Time-Based Media (TiBM).  One role will support the acquisitions and
loans programme and the other two roles will support the
installation and maintenance of TiBM artworks on display at all four
Tate sites. In these roles you will be providing technical expertise
in the assessment, preparation, installation and maintenance of
equipment and media, advising on specifications for storage,
transit, installation and display.

You will hold a relevant technical qualification and have proven
experience with a range of media such as film, video, audio, slide
and software and the equipment to run them.  You will have
experience preparing, installing and maintaining TiBM artworks
including the ability to provide accurate time and cost estimates
and quality control checks on media and equipment.  It is essential
that you have a pragmatic approach to problem solving with an
understanding of the practical and ethical issues when providing
advice for old and new media and display technologies.  You will be
an effective communicator with excellent time-management and
planning skills and be able to develop effective working
relationships quickly.  Knowledge and understanding of health and
safety regulations is required, as are excellent IT skills including
experience using computer aided design and database programmes to
document work and create installation specifications.
