25 to 30 hours per week

Hands-On Practicum in San Francisco private conservation practice
<URL:http://www.artconservationderigueur.com> specializing in
Textiles, Objects, Decorative Arts and Some Minor Painting
Treatments.

Extend your academic and practical experience through a supervised,
constructive and instructive environment, supportive to your future
professional development.

Projects Include:  European tapestry, needlepoint, Asian and
Oriental embroideries, costume, ethnographic weavings and objects,
works on paper and rare books, sculpture, Japanese painted silk
screens, Indian Toran, silk flags, and many others.

Applied Skills:  Hepa vacuuming, hand sewn linings and mounts,
object cleaning, CO2 anoxia, freezer treatments, pest management,
environmental monitoring, research, condition reports, photo
documentation, object cataloging, material and fiber analysis,
archival materials and custom fabrication of housing and boxes.

Applicants must either be currently enrolled in a program leading to
a diploma or degree in a conservation or relevant museum collections
care field, have completed appropriate studies within the past three
years, or are "Pre-Program" applicants pursuing a graduate
conservation program, but need to accrue the needed 800-1200 hours
of experience prior to applying--in which case this is a great place
to accumulate some of those 100's requisite hours.  Many of our
previous interns have gone on to have wonderful successes in this
highly competitive field.
