The Department of Conservation and Scientific Research (CSR) is
looking to recruit a conservator to co-ordinate the department's
contribution to international conservation programmes. You will work
with the Heads of Conservation Sections, preventive conservators and
conservation scientists to develop and deliver programmes, training,
advice and treatment, and will advise and provide support to the
Keeper, Deputy Head of Department and Head of Science on
international conservation and resource matters. The role will also
involve overseeing all aspects of the CSR contribution to the Zayed
National Museum (ZNM) project and to contribute to and oversee other
international training and consultancy projects.

You will be responsible for co-ordinating and participating in
surveys and conservation of objects for loans to the ZNM as well as
the conservation assessment of objects for acquisition by the ZNM.
You will ensure that objects are conserved for the projects and that
expert advice is provided on locally suitable environmental
requirements, conservation, shipment, mounting and installation. In
addition to this, you will contribute to the business planning for a
conservation function at the ZNM, as well as co-ordinating and
leading on the development of preventive and interventive
conservation training workshops.

You will hold a recognised professional conservation qualification
to degree level or equivalent and be a specialist in the field of
conservation, both nationally and internationally. You will also
have relevant experience in interventive and preventive conservation
and collections care. Experience of leading and motivating a team of
professionals is essential, as are demonstrable negotiation
abilities, good communication and organisational skills.

The Museum is in a position to provide sponsorship under the Tier 2
skilled workers scheme should this be required.
