Starting salary UKP20,671, with progression through Total
Contribution Related Pay to UKP23,517 per annum Kent History and
Library Centre, Maidstone

Full time, part time hours of 17.5 or more per week will be
considered

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced
archive conservator to join the team at the new Kent History and
Library Centre. It houses around 14 kilometres of historic material
relating to Kent dating back to 699 AD. Kent's archive collections
are some of the richest in the country. They include manuscript and
printed material, maps, photographs, drawings and some artefacts.

Applicants will have a passion for conserving unique historic
documents but understand our commitment to making these documents
accessible to all members of the Kentish community. They will enjoy
promoting Kent's historic collections through talks and visits, and
providing advice and training for community groups.

Other duties will include supervising staff and volunteers working
on basic conservation and preservation projects, the preparation of
exhibitions, producing thorough written and photographic
documentation and maintaining a safe working environment.

A recognized qualification in conservation is essential, with the
ability to undertake conservation work on a wide range of archival
materials and demonstrate knowledge of a variety of treatments,
ensuring best practice is maintained. Excellent communication and
organisations skills will be required in order to contribute to a
progressive, modern archive team.

We have funding for up to 37 hours per week however we want to
appoint the right person for the job irrespective of the hours and
we are happy to receive applications from anyone wishing to work
17.5 hours or more.
