Lecturer in Wall Painting Conservation The Courtauld Institute of Art Fixed Term appointment for one year from 1 September 2013 UKP33,465-UKP38,432 pa (including London Allowance) The Courtauld Institute of Art is the UK's leading institution for teaching and research into the History of Art and the conservation of paintings and is also home to one of the finest small art museums in the world. The Courtauld's Conservation of Wall Painting Department provides MA students with multidisciplinary education in the approaches and methods of wall painting conservation. A substantial portion of the three years (about 50%) involves fieldwork (currently all abroad) and research. Thus practical conservation, including diagnostic investigations and remedial interventions is a principal component of the programme. The Lecturer will be responsible for the teaching of practical conservation and coordination of the teaching of documentation in the first year of the MA. The post holder will participate in the planning and implementation of field projects and in the research-led teaching of the Department. The Lecturer will have a postgraduate qualification (normally an MA) in wall painting conservation and significant in-situ experience of wall painting conservation. The post holder will also have knowledge and experience of supervising MA-level wall painting conservation students in fieldwork contexts. S/he will have excellent practical and IT skills.
