Conservator M+ Museum Kowloon The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority welcomes exceptional talent with a passion to realize the dream of making the West Kowloon Cultural District the prime international and local destination for arts, culture and entertainment. We are currently recruiting a Conservator to join the M+, the new museum for Visual Art and Culture in Hong Kong. The museum, scheduled to open in 2017, is currently building a world class collection of Contemporary Art, Design, Architecture as well as Film, Video and New Media. The Collection will be constantly growing over the coming years. Conservator (based in Hong Kong) As M+ building is yet in planning stage, current conservation tasks are mainly focused on preventive conservation and care of the collections in storage. You will be responsible for: Planning and implementing all preventive conservation measures for the growing collection, including adequate storage methods Advising the curatorial staff on conservation matters related to acquisitions Assessing the condition of works considered for loan and act as courier when required Ensuring all conservation activities are properly documented and Collaborating in the planning of the conservation team of the Museum You should possess: A recognized university degree in Conservation, preferably with a focus in preventive conservation or equivalent At least 5 years of professional experience in conservation, preferably in a modern and contemporary art museum setting Diverse knowledge in material preservation and experience with cultural materials in South East Asia would be advantageous General knowledge of current museum practices in storage, handling and environmental controls Solid analytical and problem-solving skills and Excellent written and verbal communication in English and preferably Chinese For interested parties, please send your application letter along with your CV outlining how you fulfill the role requirements, expected salary and your availability, quoting the name of the position to: Ms. Catherine Lee West Kowloon Cultural District Authority 29/F Tower 6 The Gateway, 9 Canton Road Tsim Sha Tsui Kowloon or apply via hr.recruit<-at->wkcda<.>hk Closing date: 3 May 2013 Data collected will only be used for job application processing.
