ICOMOS-ISCS International Conference on Conservation of Stone and Earthen Architectural Heritage Kongju National University Gongju, Republic of Korea May 20-23, 2014 ICOMOS-ISCS is the International Scientific Committee for Stone from ICOMOS. The ISCS' purpose is to promote the knowledge and the preservation of inorganic porous building materials, such as natural and artificial stone conservation. The International Conference will take place on May 20-23, 2014 in Gongju, Korea and will be hosted by Kongju National University. The International Conference Committee is delighted to invite you to the ICOMOS-ISCS International Conference-2014 and looks forward to welcoming you. Scope: The purpose of the International Conference is to provide a forum for scientists, conservators, owners of cultural heritage properties and other experts who are involved in cultural heritage preservation. The focus will be all scientific and technological studies and inquiries related to conservation and restoration of stone and earthen heritage constructed of stones, unfired clay and soil based materials. This conference will be organized with the cooperation of ISCEAH (International Scientific Committee on Earthen Architectural Heritage from ICOMOS) and ISCARSAH (International Scientific Committee on the Analysis and Restoration of Structures of Architectural Heritage). Topics Material structure and properties and mechanical characterization Deterioration of stone and earthen architectural heritage New and traditional technologies for nondestructive and minimal invasive tests for documentation, diagnosis and monitoring Environmental assessment and preventive conservation measures of stone and earthen architectural heritage Program Day 1 and 2: Conference Day 3 and 4: Excursion Working Language: The official language of the conference is English. Note kindly that no simultaneous translation will be provided. Call for Abstracts Abstracts of maximum 300 words (PDF or .doc file) can be submitted directly to iscs2014<-at->kongju<.>ac<.>kr Papers: In this conference, attendants can select oral or poster presentation. Papers for oral presentation and posters will be peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published in proceedings. Paper format, template and submission information can be obtained from the conference website in due course. Best papers will be recommended for oral presentation.
