Subject: Glossary of conservation terms of wall painting and architectonic surfaces
I was pleased to see this initiative to develop a multi-lingual illustrated glossary of conservation terms in the field of wall paintings--this is something that would be valuable in all fields of conservation, not only to promote the mobility of conservators, but mostly to reduce the opportunities for misunderstanding. I think it would be very valuable if the project partners collaborated with CEN 346 - the European Standards Committee for the conservation of cultural heritage, and that the glossary became (eventually) a European Standard. This would ensure its wide diffusion and acceptance in all European countries, and would also provide an on-going framework for the revision and updating of the glossary, something that a fixed-term project cannot do.
