Call for papers

Chinese Traditional Painting Conservation
National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London
London
18-19 Oct 2013

The 4th conference in this series will explore the arts of China and
East Asia. Over many centuries the connections between east and
west have created significant collections, both public and private,
reflecting the quality of the objects and underlying scholarship. We
shall explore the subject from a variety of viewpoints, all
contributing to greater understanding. There have been few
opportunities to bring together these diverse topics to illuminate
the subject:

    History and connections
    Historic and contemporary objects
    Trade between east and west
    Techniques and materials
    Conservation

We are calling for contributions as academic papers, reviews of
work, demonstrations etc. Current proposed speakers include a
number from China including

WANG Minying, Yihe Yuan Summer Palace (Beijing)
              YANG Danxia, Palace Museum (Beijing)
              XU Wenjuan, Shanghai Museum (Shanghai)
              LI Tao, Guangdong Museum (Guangzhou)
Lesley Lau, Art Promotion Office (Hong Kong)

In addition, we wish to have at least three demonstrations,
including a planned one on Chinese art.

The conference will be of interest to private collectors, curators,
conservators and historians.

If you wish to offer a contribution, please send an abstract by 15
June 2013 to Xuhua (Sylvia) Zhan <chinaculture.connect<-at->gmail<.>com>

Preparation guidelines will be sent for selected contributions which
should be submitted by 15 August, 2013.

The conference will be held at the National Maritime Museum,
Greenwich, London
