Call for papers Chinese Traditional Painting Conservation National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, London London 18-19 Oct 2013 The 4th conference in this series will explore the arts of China and East Asia. Over many centuries the connections between east and west have created significant collections, both public and private, reflecting the quality of the objects and underlying scholarship. We shall explore the subject from a variety of viewpoints, all contributing to greater understanding. There have been few opportunities to bring together these diverse topics to illuminate the subject: History and connections Historic and contemporary objects Trade between east and west Techniques and materials Conservation We are calling for contributions as academic papers, reviews of work, demonstrations etc. Current proposed speakers include a number from China including WANG Minying, Yihe Yuan Summer Palace (Beijing) YANG Danxia, Palace Museum (Beijing) XU Wenjuan, Shanghai Museum (Shanghai) LI Tao, Guangdong Museum (Guangzhou) Lesley Lau, Art Promotion Office (Hong Kong) In addition, we wish to have at least three demonstrations, including a planned one on Chinese art. The conference will be of interest to private collectors, curators, conservators and historians.
