Textile Conservator Textile Conservation Limited Bristol (UK) We are looking for a qualified and experienced textile conservator to join our small but active private studio in Bristol. The studio undertakes work for local, regional and national public and private clients and treats a wide variety of textiles including furnishings, costume, tapestries, embroideries, banners and rugs. We also carry out condition surveys, provide advice on preventive conservation and offer placements for students and interns. The Textile Conservator post offers the opportunity to hold a key role in the development of the studio, its services and its small team of staff. The successful candidate will be a mature, versatile and self-motivated practitioner who has an in-depth knowledge of textile conservation issues and techniques and excellent problem solving and communication skills. The ability to function effectively (in the studio and on-site) within a commercial context whilst maintaining high standards is essential. Accredited status is encouraged. Business skills are an advantage. A full driving licence is desirable. This is a permanent post. Terms and conditions of work are negotiable; applications from candidates who wish to work part-time or other non-standard work patterns will be considered. Starting salary is dependent on experience and skills but will be in line with the salary scales recommended by the Institute of Conservation.
