History of conservation exhibitions

I am researching the history of the exhibitions on art conservation
before 1947, i.e. prior to the National Gallery of Art's "Exhibition
of Cleaned Pictures". Francesca Bewer mentions "numerous exhibitions
on artists' techniques and conservation" that the Fogg organized in
late 1930s (F. Bewer, Laboratory for Art, pp. 204-205). Perhaps you
know about some other events?
