Preventive Conservation Supervisor
London Palaces
(Kensington Palace, Tower of London, Banqueting House Whitehall)

Full Time- based at Kensington Palace
Temporary maternity cover - 6 months with possible extension

This supervisory role will report to and work with the Preventive
Conservation Manager and be responsible for the day-to-day
supervision of preventive conservation work, together with the
conservator communication and training activities for the London
Palaces preventive conservation team in the 38-strong Conservation
and Collection Care section of Historic Royal Palaces.

The role will require planning and delivering the hands-on and risk
management monitoring work of the preventive conservation programme
and will supervise its delivery through a team of preventive
conservators and interns/ volunteers. The job requires
advanced-level knowledge of preventive conservation and collection
risk management, familiarity with project management processes,
including basic budget controls, together with experience in
disseminating information, both written and spoken, to visitors, and
a range of commercial, operations and professional staff across the
organisation. Organisational skills to plan and schedule a work
programme, and to coordinate its activities with the preventive
conservation supervisor and team for Kew and Hampton Court palaces
are also critical.

This position will be based at Kensington Palace. however there is a
requirement to work from our other palaces on a regular basis to
deliver conservation. Additionally, hours of work may include
occasional evening and weekend time.

The ability to work at heights is also essential.
