Conservator/Associate Conservator, Media The Museum of Modern Art New York, New York Full-time The Museum of Modern Art seeks a conservator experienced in media conservation to oversee all facets of conservation of the Museum's media collections. Working within the conservation department the media conservator works closely with numerous other departments throughout the Museum (curatorial, registration, audio-visual, collections management, imaging services, exhibition production, information technology), as well as with outside vendors in developing and implementing Museum-wide strategies for long term programs of care and documentation of these diverse collections. The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree in conservation with at least 5 years experience in media conservation. Knowledge and experience with current and historic media technologies in audio, video and software/computer based art is essential. In addition an understanding of the theory and practice of conservation documentation, for installation, media and performance art along with experience in artist interviews is expected. Responsibilities include supervising conservation staff along with technical staff and outside advisers and vendors, developing projects and managing project budgets as well as continued development of the Museum's Digital Repository for Media Collections.
