Summer Practical Conservation Workshops and Internships International Conservation Center - Citta di Roma Old Acre, Israel <URL:http://www.antiquities.org.il/akko> Join the International Conservation Center - Citta di Roma in Old Acre, Israel this year, and make it a time to 'conserve' in one of the longest continually inhabited cities in the world. We are proud to introduce two exciting new Practical Conservation Training workshops this summer, to add to our already thriving Saving the Stones internship. Held at the campus of the Center in the inscribed UNESCO World Heritage Site of Old Acre, our programming provides intimate access to the veritable living laboratory for the study and application of practical heritage conservation methods and skills. On site practical training with ongoing conservation projects, such as mortar and stone preservation at the Western Wall Tunnels, mosaic conservation at Caesarea, and historic building technologies in Acre. All programming includes accommodation, site visits and study trips, all course activities and materials, transportation during the program, and additional cultural events. Practical Conservation Summer Intensive June 3 - August 1, 2013 Open to current university students and anyone else interested in cultural heritage preservation No experience necessary Dig in and get your hands dirty this summer in Old Acre with an intensive nine week introduction to practical conservation. Train on site with professional conservators of the Israel Antiquities Authority. Camp Conservation July 17-30, 2013 A unique adventure in heritage tourism, for all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels Live and work for two weeks in Old Acre. One week practical conservation training and implementation in an historic Ottoman period courtyard mansion, coupled with one week of day trips throughout the country. All meals included. Saving the Stones August 26, 2013 - January 23, 2014 Early bird application deadline June 2, 2013 for $200 discount. Authorized Masa Israel Journey program. Generous internal and external scholarships available. Saving the Stones is a three or five month training internship in conservation and historic preservation. The program is intended to give recent graduates and young professionals in the fields of archaeology, architecture, design, history, art, geography, and other related subjects, the opportunity to apply their skills and knowledge hands-on in the field of conservation. Three intensive months foundational conservation and historic preservation studies, including theoretical and practical documentation and survey methods, and treatment planning through to application. Two months optional advanced practicum, during which the knowledge acquired by the foundation unit is applied and thorough personal research is conducted.
