Symposium

"Conserving Outdoor Painted Sculpture"
Kroller-Muller Museum
June 4-5, 2013

The Modern Materials and Contemporary Art (MMCA) working group of
ICOM-CC will hold its Interim meeting 'Conserving Outdoor Painted
Sculpture' at the Koller-Muller Museum, Netherlands on June-5, 2013

The aim of this meeting is to discuss the current issues, approaches
and methods used for conserving outdoor painted sculpture. It is
hoped that the meeting will provide an opportunity for dialogue both
within the conservation community, and with others, such as the
paint industry, fabricators, curators and artists' estate,
foundations and studios. The Kroller-Muller Museum has a large
collection of outdoor sculptures with more than 150 works exhibited
in its sculpture garden, and as such will provide the perfect
setting for the meeting. There will be an opportunity to view the
collection, including works under discussion at the meeting.

If you would like to give a presentation at this meeting, please
send an abstract of 250 words maximum to lydia.beerkens<-at->planet<.>nl by
March 1, 2013. All papers will be delivered in English. We are
interested in work that deals with any aspect of the conserving
outdoor painted sculpture, including technical studies, performance
of paints and coatings, case studies of treatments, ethical/
philosophical considerations, legal issues, management of
collections, as well as communication/information exchange,
especially with related fields outside of conservation.

Full registration fee is Euro 175. Reduced meeting fee (for ICOM-CC
members, speakers and students) is Euro 115. Please note, the
registration fee is all inclusive: coffee, tea, lunch on both days,
dinner on June 4, 2013 in the sculpture park, closing reception on
June 5, 2013 and entrance to the National Park and the
Kroller-Muller Museum on both days of the meeting.
