For many years conservators have been faced with the problem of
dealing with decorative composition that has gained its support from
wire. This course will enable you to repair and replicate missing
ornamentation, whether it is a missing candle sconce on a pier
mirror or a relief on a gilt frame.

On completion of the course you will have produced a wire work
sconce.

Day One:

Develop the techniques for soft soldering on sheet metal and
    wire

The use of a spot welder

The preparation of proteins and the application of bandaging to
    the wire work

Day Two:

    The rehydration of pre-prepared composition

Pressing of composition into fruit wood moulds

The application of the composition onto the wire work

Additional information: There is a refectory and coffee bar within
the University and the centre of the town is a 5 minute walk away.
