Position at the Hampton Court Palace

From: Jo Wilson <jo.wilson<-at->
Date: Tuesday, January 15, 2013
Treatment conservation manager (maternity cover)
Based at Hampton Court Palace

Six months with possible extension.

Historic Royal Palaces' tapestries, textiles, decorative objects and
interiors are windows to the past. By managing their conservation
treatment through experts across four treatment teams you will
ensure these collections can be enjoyed well into the future.
Working within five of the country's greatest palaces, you will join
a 34-strong team of treatment and preventive conservators and
conservation scientists, looking after some of the world's finest
royal collections and decorative interiors.

You will be responsible for delivering a complex and
well-established programme of treatment work as well as steering
collection management projects. You must therefore be a conservation
professional with a proven record of devising and delivering
conservation treatment plans with experience of stored collection
reviews. You will have a degree (or equivalent) in conservation with
an advanced knowledge of textiles conservation and a general
knowledge and experience of non-textile objects and their treatment
needs. You will be enthusiastic to work with the Conservation and
Collection Care (CCC) team to build a profile for conservation of
which HRP can be proud. You will have achieved ACR or have an
equivalent level of experience and knowledge.

It is equally important that you are an experienced project manager
with proven project and people management skills who can lead teams
and individuals to meet deadlines. You will manage 19 staff members
as well as supervise interns. Your expertise will make you part of
the management team- with the chance to project-manage initiatives
and collaborate across the organisation. You should understand the
demands of a customer-focussed (but business-based) environment and
be passionate about communicating conservation to our visitors,
members and staff, with an ability to work with others across the
disciplines of a large scale and ambitions heritage site
organisation, both internally and externally.

Although based at Hampton Court Palace, there will be a requirement
to work at other palaces on occasion.

Historic Royal Palaces endorses the Icon PACR accreditation scheme.

Closing date: 11 February 2013

Pay Range: approximately UKP39,000.00
