One-Year Conservation Student Internship
National Gallery of Art
Conservation Division

The conservation division of the National Gallery of Art is pleased
to announce it will host a single nine-month paid internship for the
academic year of 2013 in the painting conservation department. The
internship will be devoted to conservation treatments and related
research necessary, as well as assisting the conservation staff with
loan and collection inspections and other duties as assigned.
Lectures, symposia, and informal discussions contribute to the
internship program, as do the significant resources of the Gallery,
including the library, photographic archives, and the scientific
research department.

Eligibility: Students from training programs or candidates with
equivalent training in conservation will be considered. Applicants
must be from a recognized conservation graduate school program and
require an internship to fulfill their degree requirements. A
proven record of treatment, research and writing ability as well as
English language skills are essential to compete for the internship.
The internship will be awarded without regard to age, sex,
nationality, or race.

Application Procedure: The internships offered are under the
auspices of the education department of the Gallery and they will
process the applications. One finalist will be selected for a paid
internship position.

Interested candidates must follow the guidelines on the National
Gallery of Art website. The information for graduate internships is
