Wallich Collection Conservator Directorate: Herbarium, Library, Art and Archives Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew Ref: 1391 Eligibility to apply: Internal and External Candidates may apply Full time (36 hours net) Job status: 51 Week Contract Salary per annum: UKP22,056 - UKP25,382 The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew) is the world-leader in plant diversity science, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major visitor attraction that shows the importance of plants in all our lives. Kew's mission is to inspire and deliver science-based plant conservation worldwide, enhancing the quality of life. Working with the Senior Conservator, you will be responsible for the conservation of works of art collected by Nathanial Wallich and related material within the Kew archives in order to ensure the longevity and usability of the national collections at Kew. You will have a graduate qualification, or equivalent experience in a conservation department, in paper conservation, along with a real understanding of art conservation using traditional and contemporary repair technique, especially for watercolour and ink. You would be expected to plan your own time to achieve project targets and be able to contribute to the decision making process through your assessment of problems and identification of possible solutions with regard to the collection.
