The Science Museum is world renowned for its historic collections,
awe-inspiring galleries and inspirational exhibitions. Blythe House
is the Museum's storage facility for small objects. The Science
Museum is seeking an enthusiastic individual to support the Storage
Compression project and care for the collections.

This involves working with a team to assess storage rooms to improve
the conditions of the collection, increase physical access, provide
collection surveys and carry out any stabilising and emergency
treatments as identified.

You will undertake essential conservation treatment, condition
reporting and preparation of objects for the forthcoming
exhibitions, loans, photography and other cultural outputs. You will
support the Collections Access Co-ordinator and Outreach teams to
ensure access to the collection, support curator colleagues in
advising on new acquisitions, support documentation teams with the
audit and supervise volunteers and conservation interns.

You will need to be aware of hazard management procedures associated
with historical objects and have a good knowledge of Health and
Safety, including safe use of chemicals for lab safety and
collections management.
