Subject: Seminar on conservation science
Northwestern University/Art Institute of Chicago Joint Seminar "Soft materials and hard plastics in art: characterization, degradation and conservation" Northwestern University Thursday, November 15, 2012 "Soft materials and hard plastics in art: characterization, degradation and conservation", co-sponsored by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Northwestern University Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (NU-MRSEC), will take place on Thursday, November 15, 2012, in the Materials Science and Engineering Conference Room, Cook Hall, Room 2058, on Northwestern University's Evanston campus. This event is part of a continuing seminar series on conservation science, sponsored by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation through the Art Institute of Chicago/Northwestern University Collaborative Program in Conservation Science. The goal of these seminars is twofold: to educate scientists and engineers on the opportunities and unsolved problems in conservation science, and to inform conservators, curators and conservation scientists on the techniques and expertise available in science and engineering for solving conservation science problems. The full program is detailed below. Participation is free, thanks to the generous support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center of Northwestern University, but you need to register in order to attend this seminar. Please RSVP to mrc<-at->northwestern<.>edu by Monday, November 12, 2012. Parking on the Northwestern campus requires a permit; if you plan on driving, please request a permit and map when you RSVP.
