"Best in Show: Conservation and exhibitions"
Conservation Matters in Wales conference
Cynon Valley Museum and Gallery
Aberdare, Wales
12 December 2012

A one day conference and networking event organised by Amguedda
Cymru: National Museum Wales, The Federation of Museums and Art
Galleries of Wales and Cardiff University.

Have you just installed an exhibition, conserved an object for
display, made a complex mount or worked with local communities to
select, interpret or install objects? Are you involved in a major
redevelopment project, frequently turning around temporary
exhibitions or do you manage a permanent display? If so we'd like to
hear from you.

We are looking for people working in museums, libraries and archives
willing to share examples of any aspect of conservation involved in
exhibitions, large or small, and speak about their experiences.

Were you involved in the planning of exhibitions? How were
conservation decisions made? Did you have a conservation voice in
design? Were there conflicts that had to be resolved? Did
instillation go to plan or did you have to overcome come unexpected
challenges. Did you have to balance conservation and access? Were
new partnerships developed? Do you have any lessons learnt or advice
for working successfully with exhibitions? If yes we'd like to
invite you to share these experiences.

Conservation Matters in Wales conferences are held twice a year in
Wales, UK and bring together examples of best practice, case studies
and research in conservation and collections care. A key focus of
the Conference is to provide networking opportunities for
conservators and museum, library and archive professionals (over a
mince pie).

If you are interested in speaking please send a very brief outline
to: Megan de Silva <megandesilva<-at->monmouthsire<.>gov<.>uk> or phone +44
1291 625981 (Mon-Wed) to discuss an idea.

Deadline for submissions: 5 November 2012
