Fixed-term contract: 6 months maternity cover with possibility of
extension to 12 months

UKP24,381 per annum pro-rata

As a member of the Stone, Wallpaintings and Mosaics Conservation
Team, you will assist with the conservation, restoration and
preservation of the British Museum's extensive collections of these
types of objects and contribute generally to the care of collections
programme. In close collaboration with staff of the various
curatorial departments, you will carry out all aspects of the
practical conservation of objects for display, loan, storage and
research purposes.

You will have a recognised professional qualification in
conservation, which includes the conservation of archaeological and
historical stone objects. An understanding of the conservation of
wall paintings and mosaics is desirable but not essential. You will
have demonstrable, practical stone conservation skills and a good
knowledge of conservation theory and ethical decision making. These
skills will have been acquired in previous employment or on training
placements where you will also have developed an awareness of health
and safety issues.

This role is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage
Lottery Fund, enabling work to take place on the British Museum's
World Conservation and Exhibition Centre project.$
