Collections Care Manager
National Library of Scotland

Permanent, Full-Time

The National Library of Scotland is one of Europe's leading research
libraries. Based in Edinburgh, it is Scotland's largest library and
boasts world-class collections, services and expertise.

The National Library of Scotland tells the story of Scotland in the
vast amount of material we hold. Looking after and sharing this
information is a team effort. If you are interested in being a part
of this team, we have a vacancy for a Collections Care Manager
within the Collections and Interpretation Department of the Library.

The Collections Care Manager is vital to the achievement of the
Library's strategic objectives. The role involves four areas of
contribution, each with its specific challenges, and all joined by
the common threads of continuing to develop the Library to meet the
needs of the 21st century, whilst managing change at a time of
restricted, or diminishing funding:

    * As a member of the Library's Collections and Interpretation
        Management Team you will contribute to and support the
        development and implementation of departmental strategy and
        policy;

    * You will provide advice and support to the Head of
        Collections and Interpretation and other section heads for
        all aspects of the management of the conservation and
        preservation of the collections, together with planning,
        support and performance monitoring;

    * You will oversee the planning and operational delivery of
        all functions relating to collections care, and;

    * Actively contribute to Departmental and Library wide
        collaboration and co-ordination of cross functional
        policies, strategies and activities.

Applicants should have a recognised qualification to degree level,
and / or have substantial experience and expertise in the field of
conservation. You should also have experience of leading, motivating
and managing a team of professionals, together with demonstrable
planning and project management skills, and experience of
implementing and managing change.
