Project Conservator Eric Dingwall Project Senate House Libraries University of London Fixed-term for 6 to 10 months, depending on FTE The Historic Collections Department, Senate House Library, is looking for a suitably experienced individual to work as a Project Conservator, Eric Dingwall Project. The post is funded by a grant from the Research Resources in Medical History Programme administered by the Wellcome Trust. The purpose of the post is to carry out preservation and conservation treatments on the Eric Dingwall Papers in order to prevent physical and chemical damage. The post-holder will work in the Conservation Studio, Senate House Library. In order to succeed in this role, you will have post-qualification experience of working as a professional conservator in a library or archive environment with large and diverse collections of documentary materials including fragile papers and bindings. Experience of photograph album conservation and box making is essential, as is experience of preventive conservation in relation to paper, books and photographs. Detailed professional knowledge of conservation and preservation techniques for library materials and current international standards in conservation work is a must. You will have good communication skills, as demonstrated by the ability to give clear and concise explanations with condition reports, treatment proposals and conservation reports. Good organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work on your own initiative to pre-determined targets, combining speed of work with attention to detail and accuracy.
