The central role of this project-based post in the Scientific
Department is to undertake technical examination of Old Master
paintings, and samples from paintings, in the National Gallery
Collection with a view to documenting the results and providing
interpreted technical data to curators and conservators for the
Gallery's programme of conservation and cataloguing. The successful
candidate must have experience in microscopy and pigment/layer
structure analysis for works of art, and experience with paintings
would be a particular advantage.

This is a fixed term post for 22 months working 22 hours per week.
