The Preservation Directorate of the Library of Congress would like
to invite our colleagues and all interested parties to attend a
symposium consisting of a series of lectures that will highlight
initial results of new, collaborative scientific research into the
chemistry of historical iron gall ink and its conservation
treatment.

Speakers include Dr. Karen Gaskell from the University of Maryland
at College Park, Dept. of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Dr. Aldo
Ponce, Prof. Richard Wolbers from the University of Delaware Art
Conservation Department, and Dr. Anthony Lagalante from Villanova
University, Dept. of Chemistry.

The symposium will take place on October 11, 2012 in the Library's
Pickford Theater, from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, and will also be
available by live webcast. Pre-registration for either in-person or
remote attendance is required. To register for the Pickford Theater,
send an email to alaprtd<-at->loc<.>gov; to register for the webinar, send
an email at least three days prior to the event to rpri<-at->loc<.>gov
