Subject: Call for papers--Facture
Call for Papers Facture Volume 2 The National Gallery of Art Conservation Division invites abstracts of papers to be considered for publication in its biennial journal Facture. The second issue will be published in the fall of 2015. Facture presents technical research by conservators, scientists, and art historians studying works of art in the National Gallery collections. Papers addressing a series of works that includes one or more works at the Gallery will also be considered. Contributions may take the form of a feature essay (not to exceed 8,000 words including notes) or a shorter notice (not to exceed 4,000 words including notes). Topics may range from conservation treatment and scientific investigation to technical art history and may address works of art in all media from all time periods represented in the Gallery's collections. Essays should be written in a manner equally accessible to conservators, scientists and art historians. Submissions will be evaluated by an Editorial Committee composed of conservators, conservation scientists, art historians and educators on staff at the National Gallery of Art. Abstracts of 300 words or fewer should include the title, the authors' names, a brief description, and a statement of the current state of research and work necessary for the completion of the paper. The text must be double spaced and submitted as a Microsoft Word document. Abstracts should be sent to: facture<-at->nga<.>gov no later than November 15, 2012. Questions may be directed to m-gifford<-at->nga<.>gov or d-barbour<-at->nga<.>gov Facture Conservation Research Volume 1 A Page from Giorgio Vasari's Libro de'Disegni as Composite Object Kimberly Schenck Barbara Berrie John K.
