London Palaces with potential travel to other palaces

Once upon a time it was royalty who admired the magnificent objects
within the five historic royal palaces. Today, it is visitors who
come to discover the fascinating stories behind these unique
exhibits. To save these priceless artefacts for future generations
we need someone to join our team of highly skilled preventive
conservators

Having attended a recognised conservation training programme (or
equivalent), you'll have an in-depth understanding and expert-level
knowledge of collections care tasks, with risk management analysis
and a sound understanding of collections risk management. You'll
need to be familiar with project management structures. It is
essential that you are confident at disseminating both written and
spoken information, and able to explain your work to staff, visitors
and professionals alike.

You will be part of a team and report to the Preventive Conservation
Supervisor, responsible for the scheduling and delivery of the
day-to-day preventive conservation programme and carrying out the
hands-on collection care routines, together with explaining and
training. Working with extremely fragile objects within the palaces,
you must be able to work at heights, and clean, lift and move
collection items on a routine basis.

The role will also include out of hours working at any of our sites
to supervise events and activities such as filming, corporate
functions or HRP press launches.

Although based at Kensington Palace you will be required to travel
to our other palaces; there will be occasions when you will be
posted to other HRP sites for extended periods.

Historic Royal Palaces endorses the Icon PACR accreditation scheme.

Closing date: Monday 10 Sept 2012
