Sealing tape

At the National Museum for Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo
(Norway) we use a sealing tape on the verso of glazed paintings
(from backboards to picture frames). The function of this tape is
not to create a fully sealed micro climate, but to reduce dust
accumulation between the painting and the glass. We currently use
Photographic Masking Tape (Shur Tape). We are moderately happy with
this tape, but not so happy that the price (450 NOK/62 Euro/77 USD
per roll).

The museum's collections are currently being reviewed and it is
important that the tape adheres well but is easily removed without
glue residues left on the picture frame and the backing board. We
are interested in knowing what other museums use and any other
suggestions you may have.
