Call for papers AIC Book and Paper Group session American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) Annual Meeting Indianapolis May 29-June 1, 2013 Please join us May 29-June 1, 2013 for the Book and Paper Group (BPG) session of the 41st American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) Annual Meeting in Indianapolis. The 2013 BPG session will include formal presentations, a practical "tips session", two discussion groups (Art on Paper and Archives Conservation), the BPG business meeting, and an evening reception. BPG welcomes abstracts related but not limited to the main overall 2013 AIC meeting "The Contemporary in Conservation." Abstracts for the BPG session addressing any and all aspects of the conservation of archival materials, art on paper, bound volumes, manuscripts, and similar materials will be considered. Please see the AIC website <URL:http://www.conservation-us.org/annualmeeting> for details but the 2013 theme encompasses many areas for exploration during the BPG session, including Contemporary (techniques) in conservation (treatments) Contemporary (materials) in conservation (activities) Contemporary (society) in the conservation (profession) Contemporary (trends) in conservation (work places) Such a broad theme can touch on topics such as new treatment techniques that improve on traditional methods; the impact of digitization efforts on conservation activities; evolving aesthetic expectations from curators and clients; environmental sustainability; increased cooperative alliances among private conservators; the effects of architectural design on preservation; current trends in exhibition design; or developments in preventive conservation and collections care. Abstracts for formal presentations in the BPG session may be submitted by current BPG members, other Specialty Group members, and related professionals. Presentations will be 20-25 minutes in length with a standard 5-10 minute question-and-answer period. Please note that speakers are not compensated and must register for the meeting (single day registration is acceptable). BPG will continue to use the AIC system which allows authors to prioritize their application to participate in one of the three session types: All-Attendee (General), Specialty Group, or Poster. If you would like to submit an abstract to BPG please identify the Book and Paper Group session as one of your choices.
