Subject: Call for papers--Emerging Conservation Professionals Network
Call for Papers Emerging Professionals session "Positive Futures in an Uncertain World" ICON Conference 2013 University of Glasgow, Scotland April 10-12, 2013 In partnership with the University of Glasgow Calling all conservators in training, conservation interns and recently graduated conservators. The Emerging Professionals parallel session of the 2013 ICON Conference requires your knowledge, thoughts and experiences. ICON extends a call for papers from Emerging Professionals. As new and emerging conservators step into the increasingly uncertain climate of the present heritage sector, positive attitudes and creative problem solving are a must. In the face of funding cuts and staff losses, new paths are being forged to care for and connect with our cultural heritage. What are the current issues in conservation, and where do we as Emerging Professionals fit into these? How can we provide new and innovative solutions? What is the changing role of the conservator in the current professional climate, and how does this affect the way conservation will be taught and practised in the future? Papers are also welcome from conservators who do not consider themselves new or emerging, but have a vision of what Emerging Professionals are capable of. Part of this session will be shared with Icon's Archaeology Group, focusing on the question: "10 things I wasn't told at University". Abstracts are welcomed on this and any other topic relevant to the Emerging Professional. Abstracts, 300 words maximum, must be submitted by 10 September 2012. Please email to kblair.tc<-at->gmail<.>com Please include names, addresses and email addresses of all authors and indicate the author for correspondence. Papers will be chosen by 10 October 2012. Bookings open 1 November 2012. Deadline for submission of papers to special conference issue of the Journal is 28 February 2013.
