Disposal of syringes, chemical pipettes and sharps

I just wanted to know how people dispose of pipettes used with
chemicals, syringe needles (we use these with Permethrine) and
scalpel blades.  We currently put them in clinical waste containers
but we are having difficulty disposing of these with out large cost
implications.  All ideas gratefully received. Regards
