Call for Papers
Icon Paintings Group

Icon international conference
University of Glasgow
10-12 April 2013.

This two-day conference will include a plenary session on themes of
interest across conservation and cultural heritage and concurrent
sessions organised by specialist groups and partners.

The venue is the University of Glasgow, a complex of buildings of
outstanding architectural interest by Sir George Gilbert Scott.

The Icon Paintings Group is seeking speakers for our group session.
The theme for the session is 'Art and Audiences'. We would like to
explore the display of artworks and interaction with art, by
visitors, owners and the public, and how this influences
conservation treatments, preventative measures and the job of a
conservator more generally.

Topics could include:; sending artworks on loan and conservation
measures, undertaking treatment in public spaces, explaining
conservation treatments to the public, conserving paintings for
display in historic settings.

Please send abstracts--maximum 300 words--by 10 September 2012 to
icon.paintingsgroup<-at->googlemail<.>com

Please include the names, addresses and email addresses of all
authors and indicate the author for correspondence. Papers will be
selected by 1 October 2012. Conference papers will not be published
but authors are invited to submit their papers for consideration for
publication in the Spring 2014 issue of the Journal of the Institute
of Conservation.

Further information will be available on the icon website.
