Subject: Call for papers--ICON Paintings Group
Call for Papers Icon Paintings Group Icon international conference University of Glasgow 10-12 April 2013. This two-day conference will include a plenary session on themes of interest across conservation and cultural heritage and concurrent sessions organised by specialist groups and partners. The venue is the University of Glasgow, a complex of buildings of outstanding architectural interest by Sir George Gilbert Scott. The Icon Paintings Group is seeking speakers for our group session. The theme for the session is 'Art and Audiences'. We would like to explore the display of artworks and interaction with art, by visitors, owners and the public, and how this influences conservation treatments, preventative measures and the job of a conservator more generally. Topics could include:; sending artworks on loan and conservation measures, undertaking treatment in public spaces, explaining conservation treatments to the public, conserving paintings for display in historic settings. Please send abstracts--maximum 300 words--by 10 September 2012 to icon.paintingsgroup<-at->googlemail<.>com Please include the names, addresses and email addresses of all authors and indicate the author for correspondence. Papers will be selected by 1 October 2012. Conference papers will not be published but authors are invited to submit their papers for consideration for publication in the Spring 2014 issue of the Journal of the Institute of Conservation.
