Full Time Permanent Contract

Fixed Term Contract; 12 months in duration

UKP24,381 per annum

As a member of the organic materials conservation team, you will
assist with the conservation of the Museum's extensive collection of
organic artefacts and generally contribute to the care of the
collections programme.

In close collaboration with staff of the various curatorial
departments, you will carry out all aspects of the practical
conservation of objects for display, loan, storage and research
purposes. You will be required to keep an accurate record of work
undertaken and enter the data into the Museum's computerised record
system.

You will possess a recognised professional qualification in the
conservation of historical and/or archaeological organic artefacts,
as well as demonstrable practical conservation skills gained in
previous employment or on training placements. Experience of
archaeological conservation from a range of different periods and
cultures will also be advantageous. You should also have an
understanding of conservation theory and ethical decision-making,
together with an awareness of health and safety issues. Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills are required in order to
build and maintain effective working relationships across teams and
departments. Proficient IT skills are also essential to the role.
