Position at Historic Royal Palaces

Date: Wednesday, July 18, 2012
Commissioned Treatment Co-ordinator
Historic Royal Palaces
Conservation and Collection Care
Hampton Court Palace
Part-time (3/5) job share; Wednesday to Friday
Established

Our tapestries, textiles, decorative objects and interiors are
windows to the past. By joining our expert team of conservators
you'll ensure they can be enjoyed well into the future. Working
within five of the country's greatest royal palaces, you will join a
34-strong team of conservators and conservation scientists looking
after some of the world's finest (royal) collections and decorative
interiors.

Working under the direction of the Commissioned Treatment
Conservation Supervisor and other experts, you will project manage
the contracted conservation of non-textile objects, including
preparing tenders and contracts, managing project budgets and
co-ordinating the work with palace colleagues and external
contractors. Working in a small team, you should be able to work
with a significant degree of independence, and as a job-share
position you will need to employ good organisational and
communication skills. Maintaining and developing the associated
conservation records for this work is an important part of this
role.

As a graduate of a recognised conservation training programme or
with equivalent experience, you will possess object treatment
experience and an understanding of the conservation of a wide range
of materials. Project management skills and experience are
desirable. You will also be keen to explain your conservation work
to both professional colleagues and palace visitors.

Although based at Hampton Court Palace, there will be a requirement
to work at other palaces at times.

HRP supports the Icon PACR accreditation scheme.

Closing date: 3 August 2012
Pay Range 8L UKP24,577 pro rata
Interviews: w/c 12 August 2012
