Assistant Conservator USS Monitor The Mariners' Museum The Mariners' Museum seeks a full time Assistant Conservator for the USS Monitor Center. The Assistant Conservator identifies and determines, in consultation with conservators, appropriate methods to treat and preserve artifacts recovered from the wreck of the USS Monitor, and treats artifacts as required. This individual works closely with the conservation staff and other Museum staff to conserve artifacts and prepare them for exhibition. A Master's degree in conservation or a related field is required, or successful completion of degree within 1 year of hiring. Minimum two years experience in archaeological conservation and artifact handling; familiarity with marine archaeological materials is preferred.
