Williamstown Art Conservation Center

The Williamstown Art Conservation Center (WACC) invites applications
from qualified frame/furniture conservators for a full-time position
in the department of Furniture and Wood Objects.

Responsibilities for the position include the examination,
treatment, and documentation of a wide range of picture frames and
furniture, some on-site work, supervision of interns, and providing
conservation advice for enquiries.

Necessary skills include the accurate evaluation of problematic wood
structures and their surfaces coatings, woodworking, traditional and
conservation gilding, solvents and their safety, and the
understanding of modern analytical methods.  Collaboration on
projects with other departments (paintings, paper, and objects) is
common, and the applicant should have good communication and team
skills.  Candidates should have a graduate degree from a
conservation program, or the equivalent experience.

WACC is a non-profit, multi-disciplinary regional art conservation
facility, located on the Clark Art Institute campus in northwest
Massachusetts.  It serves the conservation needs of 50-plus member
museums, other institutions, and private clients.

Salary will be commensurate with abilities and experience.  The
position includes an annual research stipend and a generous benefits
package.
