Subject: New site--eClimateNotebook (eCNB)
The Image Permanence Institute is happy to announce the release of eClimateNotebook.com (eCNB), a web-based environmental data management system designed to help archives, libraries, and museums do more than simply collect and store data. eCNB can help you manage the storage environment for preservation, analyze the effect of temperature and relative humidity on your collection, and reduce the risk posed by inappropriate environmental conditions. eCNB promotes better communication between collection care and facility management staff, enabling institutions to develop and institute sustainable preservation practices that balance the need for energy savings with responsible collection care and long-term preservation. Previous generations of this system include IPI's former data management websites, PEMdata.com and MyClimateData.com, as well as our original desktop software, Climate Notebook. Since development, maintenance, and technical support for two web-based systems and Climate Notebook took a great deal of staff time, it made sense to focus our efforts on developing one unified system that would assimilate the strengths of our existing systems into a single, unified platform. Incorporating a range of "levels" within the system allows us to meet the needs of a variety of users. Using the web enables us to provide all system upgrades automatically to users and allows them to transition seamlessly from one level of data management and analysis to another. The annual subscription rate charged (based on the number of location datasets and institutional users-there is also a free level) supports the development of new features, serves our educational mission, and allows us to continue to provide free technical support and professional advice to users. We've seen some discussion about IPI's PEM2 datalogger, Climate Notebook, and eClimateNotebook.com on various professional listserves recently and want to confirm that you *can* compare locations at each level of eCNB, including the free level. Please feel free to contact IPI if you have any questions about the PEM2 or eCNB, or click on the links below for additional information about eCNB: eCNB description on IPI site <URL:https://www.imagepermanenceinstitute.org/environmental-management/eclimatenotebook> Tour of eCNB features <URL:https://www.eclimatenotebook.com/tour.php> eCNB levels, features and pricing <URL:https://www.eclimatenotebook.com/plans> Basic Level Demo <URL:https://www.eclimatenotebook.com/actions/login_demo?demo_level=basic> Professional Level Demo <URL:https://www.eclimatenotebook.com/actions/login_demo?demo_level=pro> The Image Permanence Institute is a non-profit preservation research lab at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
