Paintings Conservator Olin Conservation, Inc. Washington DC area Olin Conservation, Inc., (OCI) headquartered in Great Falls, VA, is contemplating a post graduate position to assist with current mural and painting conservation projects in the DC area. The position will be for six months (September 2012 - February 2013), with the possibility of extension. The anticipated work may include the following: In studio, structural treatment--canvas murals; On-site cleaning, structural work and inpainting--canvas murals; On site stabilization, filling and inpainting--fresco secco murals and numerous other projects including easel paintings. The position, if awarded, will be as a Contract Laborer, with hourly compensation based on experience and ability. Benefits are not provided to Contract Laborers. Extension of the position is not guaranteed, however, if extended, the position would evolve into Employee status. OCI maintains Workers Compensation insurance coverage on all staff, employees and contract laborers. Site work requires PPE (protective equipment). Projects entail work from scaffolding and involve non-typical apparatus. This will necessitate knowledge of scaffolding and equipment, or a willingness to be trained in safe operation. Certain projects require OSHA or other types of specialized training. Our work requires us to bring the conservation lab to the site: Candidates with the ability to perform detailed and objective conservation, who also possess the energy and agility necessary for physically demanding site work, are likely to excel.
